At a time when many in the fashion industry are struggling, MR PORTER is using its platform to highlight young and independent designers. ‘MR PORTER FUTURES’, is a global design mentorship programme that will guide three selected applicants through the process of designing, manufacturing and delivering their own collections.
Once selected, the three menswear designers will then commit to a 12-month programme which will include one-on-one coaching and mentorship from a number of key menswear influencers. The list includes Tatsuo Hino; director of BEAMS & CO, Reese Cooper, Nicholas Daley and more.
Mr Porter has also put sustainability at the heart of this, as the collection will be responsibly sourced and produced, before debuting exclusively on the MR PORTER website.
The brief for the application stresses openness. As Mr Porter puts it, “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from; it doesn’t matter if you have no previous experience. Your ideas are what matter. If you think you’ve got what it takes, we want to hear from you”.
Applications are currently open and close at 11.59 pm BST on June 6. Click here to apply.
