After an opulent Paris Fashion Week FW23 menswear show, Wales Bonner takes us back to a lavish-looking Parisian palace where even the grand chequered tiled floors and meticulous wall engravings couldn’t steal the spotlight from the clothing – or the muses.
Titled “The Individual,” the latest campaign lenses in on Sage Elsesser, the American skater and Navy Blue musician. Donning the Histoire Coat with the carefully placed Compass Brooch right by the structured lapel, Elsesser’s straight off the runway fit is exactly the kind of look we love to see from Wales Bonner – it’s reinvented menswear with a modern twist.
When it comes to Wales Bonner, you can always expect tailored, elegant and culturally-infused pieces that highlight the London-based designer’s Jamaican heritage. A hint of playfulness can always be found in her looks, as seen through some collaborative adidas jerseys, sporadic use of colours in the last menswear collection and in the form of leopard-print Symphony Slippers on Elsesser.
Joining Elsesser is the iconic Imaan Hammam who’s seen wearing the trippy crocheted two-slit Stanza Skirt and the black and red WB-adorned long sleeve Home Jersey Shirt, also seen in the FW23 “Twilight Reverie” runway collection.
The campaign’s styling comes courtesy of Tom Guiness, a Wales Bonner favourite who styled the recent SS24 “Marathon” collection. It was shot by Tyler Mitchell who’s been there and done that with all your favourite brands and designers from the Maximilian Davis-led Ferragamo to Miuccia Prada.
Considering the level of talent Grace Wales Bonner surrounds herself with, it only makes sense this campaign ate and left no crumbs.
