Reebok has tapped Korean-born brand KANGHYUK to take it back to the fitness and footwear company’s athletic roots with the DMX 6 Run Modern sneaker.

This long-standing partnership has been behind the redesign of several of Reebok’s signature silhouettes, including the Classic Leather, earlier this year. This collaboration hones in on a pair that has been keeping quiet since its initial 1999 release.

The Reebok x KANGHYUK DMX 6 Run Modern merges Reebok’s Senior Footwear Designer Evan Belforti’s dynamic aesthetic with KANGHYUK Founders Kanghyuk Choi and Sanglak Shon’s fashion-forward aesthetic. The shoe features a chunky sole and an asymmetrical profile that also boasts 3D textural details all over the upper.

The sneaker comes in two distinct colourways, “Black Onyx” and “Star White,” both decorated with distorted visual elements and an elongated version of Reebok’s vector emblem in “High Risk Red.” Those colours are no strangers to the Korean brand, having used these specific combinations since its debut collection.

The DMX 6 Run Modern brings two worlds together, nodding to Reebok’s presence in the BMX world and taking cues from KANGHYUK’s aesthetically pleasing colour palette.

The Reebok x KANGHYUK collaboration drops on November 15 online and at selected stores.
