This year will mark the 105th edition of Pitti Uomo, the bi-yearly, Florence-based, menswear trade show by Pitti Immagine. First hosted in 1972, Pitti Uomo has become the quiet soldier of fashion week, serving as a teaser of the month to come, with more and more buzz coming out of the 3-day event. This year, between January 9 and 12, the Fortezza da Basso will welcome designers and industry professionals alike to celebrate menswear excellence. Keep reading to get your full rundown of what’s happening this year at Pitti Uomo.

Tomorrow kicks off the debut of 2024’s Pitti Uomo, as models, press, and buyers all jet off to Florence. As per every year, the event officially kicks off with an opening ceremony – expect big speeches and champagne to be passed about as if it were happy hour.

Pitti Uomo always invites emerging designers as guest designers, to showcase a collection made specifically for the occasion. Guest designers have included Giorgio Armani, Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Dries Van Noten back in the 90s, and more recently Pitti Uomo have graced us with the likes of Martine Rose, Virgil Abloh with Off-White™, Shayne Oliver of Hood By Air, and Glenn Martens of Y/PROJECT.

The guest designer who was first announced for this year’s edition was Luca Magliano, the Bolognese-born designer who founded his namesake brand, MAGLIANO. Having won the LVMH Karl Lagerfeld prize in 2023, Magliano has been on everybody’s radar due to his subversive take on menswear with disjointed, layered, and loose-fitting garments. MAGLIANO is set to show its collection on January 10 at 7 p.m. (CET) / 6 p.m. (GMT).

Next up on the guest designer roster is Steven Stoke-Daley, Founder and Creative Director of S.S.Daley. The British designer founded his label in 2020 in a mission to represent the working class. Gender norms being played with is to be expected for S.S.Daley’s Pitti Uomo show, taking on traditional British menswear codes and adding a touch of flair, fun, and modernity. Catch S.S.Daley on the Pitti Uomo runway on January 11 at 5 p.m. (CET) / 4 p.m. (GMT).

Last but certainly not least, Achilles Ion Gabriel will be making his debut for his namesake brand through a presentation. The Camper and CAMPERLAB Creative Director is using the occasion to debut his first collection as his own vision sees it, which he has said to by “fully immersive.” Definitely one everyone will have their eyes on this season, Achilles Ion Gabriel will hold his presentation on January 11, from 12 p.m. (CET) / 11 a.m. (GMT) onwards.

That isn’t all that is taking place at Pitti Uomo this year. The Italian trade show has rounded up some of its best talent to put on presentations and events. There will be a Salvatore Ferragamo 1898-1960 archival exhibition, a Todd Snyder comeback, a GUESS USA immersive exhibition, an adidas Originals & LuisaViaRoma presentation, and lots more to look forward to.
