There’s a new book on the block thanks to Pharrell. Titled Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels, the book dives into the art of jewellery, something Pharrell knows a thing or two about, as he’s always iced out and has designed some dazzlers himself (remember that iced out Louis Vuitton Speedy he was carrying last Paris Fashion Week?)
Pharrell’s influence on the world of fashion and jewellery is ever-expanding and unlike very few other hip hop figures with a hefty portfolio that includes Tiffany & Co., Chanel, Richard Mille and, of course, Louis Vuitton. Now, his impact on the world of all things bling bling and diamond-encrusted is being recorded in his new book.
One of the artist’s most impressive feats is the collaborative work he’s done, whether in fashion or music, with all sorts of artists that equally have a pulse on today’s culture. Of those includes Tyler, The Creator, NIGO, Verdy and Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH who have all made contributions to the book through intimate conversations with Pharrell himself.
Not only will this book dive into some of Pharrel’s most iconic designs like the solid gold phone and game console cases, it will also look into the symbiotic relationship between hip hop and jewellery. It’s an obsession that’s as old as the genre, both influencing one and other thanks to figures like Pharrell who bridged the gap between the two.
Pharrell’s Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels is being published by Rizzoli and releases tomorrow priced at $65.
