Palace has teamed up with iconic British football maker Mitre for a collaborative “Ultimax” ball, which sees the skate brand nod to its roots and build on previous football partnerships.
The design of the ball allows Mitre’s ball-making expertise to be revamped through Palace’s playful lens. The collaborative piece nods to ‘90s nostalgia, blending contemporary design with a striking colour palette, taking us back to football’s golden years. The balls are sealed with a dual-branded stamp of approval, proudly placing both Palace and Mitre’s logos on the product.
The “Ultimax Pro” is crafted to perfection, using a unique four-panel thermally bonded construction to guarantee unparalleled power, precision and performance. It features “Hyperflow” debossed grooves, which improve in-flight dynamics and reduce drag. “Hyperfoam” cushioning improves contact for a responsive first touch and exceptional close control.
Jack Richardson, Global Brand Director at Pentland Brands, feels the collaboration “perfectly captures Mitre’s connection to football heritage whilst marrying it with the contemporary style of Palace Skateboards,” adding that it showcases a technical excellence “rooted in culture.”
While this collaboration is the first time the two brands have worked together, it feels right at home with Palace’s output, which has nodded to retro footy history through collaborations with Umbro, both early into the brand’s history and as recent as this year. In 2019, Palace partnered with Juventus F.C. for an official fashion meets football collab, which saw the team pictured next to players in a promotional campaign, further aligning with a football-focused approach to streetwear.
If there’s one thing this collaboration is not, it’s a balls up! The Mitre x Palace football will be available to purchase as part of the Ultimo 2023 range from Friday, November 24, via Palace stores worldwide and online.
