Outfits against the clock at Bicester Village

Outfits against the clock at Bicester Village

Remember when we went to Bicester Village to build three outfits with three different budgets? While we were there, we thought we’d set ourselves another challenge to keep things interesting. This time, Ollie and Aura swapped the usual Culted goodness in London for Bicester Village to build an outfit against the clock for our Styled in Seconds challenge.

The aim of the game? Build an entire look in under 15 minutes, which, as we found out, sounds easier on paper than it does when you’re sprinting from one end of Bicester Village to the other. For this challenge, Ollie and Aura returned to their trusty favourites Jil Sander, Acne Studios and Maison Margiela, taking in the quality clobber, dashing between boutiques and speed sliding through clothing rails, which could definitely be a sport in the fashion Olympics. Anyway, into the nitty gritty, keep reading to see the full rundown.

Maison Margiela madness

We kicked things off in Bicester Village’s Maison Margiela boutique, launching through the doors towards a lab coat-wearing store manager who was on hand to help. Aura chose some MM6 Maison Margiela pumps, entering the store with military-like precision. On the other hand, Ollie lost track of time looking for trousers, instead opting for some pre-battered suede lace-ups, in keeping with Maison Margiela’s signature deconstruction. Aura managed to nab some relaxed-fitting cargo pants, bringing some six-pocket chic to the challenge.

Sprinting for summer fits at Jil Sander

Next, it was out of Maison Margiela to march full speed into Jil Sander. Between Lucie and Luke Meier’s minimalist mastery,  one pair of belted baggy shorts caused some heat-of-the-moment designer drama (Ollie swears he got to them first, and Aura says she did). When we say these things weighed a tonne, we weren’t kidding. With a pleated structure and long flowing belt, these bad boys had more structure than Mark Wahlberg’s morning routine and went down a treat with the Jil Sander Western shirt that Ollie picked up. Aura grabbed a pair of fluffy platform mules, which complimented her Maison Margiela pants like fine wine.

Battle of the Bicester Village fits

With a quick pit stop at Acne Studios for Aura to nab a printed shirt and belted denim jacket, we raced against the clock to get back to the styling suite. Here, Ollie’s all-black Jil Sander and Maison Margiela look went head-to-head with Aura’s cargo pants, shirt, and jacket combo, pitting a clean monochrome moment against a textured-to-perfection lesson in layering.

Who do you think won?
