The Nike AF1 has become such a classic that remixing it almost feels like a sacrilegious act, but not when it’s done by Off-White™. The Virgil Abloh-founded brand keeps his legacy alive by continuing to create culturally-informed products like this collaborative “Sheed” AF1 Mid.

The shoe itself comes in a patent leather upper, resembling a slimy substance straight out of Venom, further exaggerated by the 3D outsole that looks like melted rubber. The collaborative AF1s also feature the classic Off-White™ tag your parents would tell you to cut off and a white Swoosh with black stitching.

Nike and Off-White™ aren’t just honouring the late Virgil Abloh with this early ‘00s basketball-inspired sneaker, but also the legendary basketball player Rasheed Wallace. Wallace was known to wear the AF1 both on and off the court while he played for the Detroit Pistons – you’ll notice his number 30 on the shoe’s strap.

Further honouring Wallace, Nike will be supporting local basketball games and tournaments in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wallace’s hometown.

On top of giving this shoe a remixed look and turning it into a modern day cool status symbol, a CCTV themed campaign also dropped, tapping into all of our aesthetically-motivated need to take a picture when entering any corner shop.

The Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Sheed” shoes are now available on Farfetch for £263 and on Off-White™’s website for $205.
