Nensi Dojaka made her solo fashion week debut yesterday, showcasing her much-anticipated SS22 collection only days after winning the 2021 LVMH prize. Despite the high stakes and heavy expectations, the Albanian-born designer kicked off fashion week with a bang, presenting her signature elevated mesh creations. The collection paid homage to her already-loved strappy mesh designs, whilst also revealing a taste of what could come from the designer.
Dojaka, who has already amassed a cult-following of celebrities and fashion-lovers alike, built upon her iconic sheer looks in her LFW offering, further demonstrating her aptitude for consistently progressive designing. Layers and cutouts featured prominently on the dresses, suits and tights, whilst her usual black colourway was supplemented by the inclusion of rust and red accents, alongside coral pink and cream designs.
Despite her assertion that she’s still learning to tailor, Dojaka’s SS22 creations spoke to her potential in creating a whole wardrobe: showcasing tailored trousers, knits and refined blazers that were anything but amateur.
Speaking about consideration for commerciality when designing, Dojaka commented that she was “not just thinking about the show… I want women to love the clothes and be able to wear them.” It seems, from this refreshing yet still signature-Dojaka collection, that this should be no trouble at all.
