Drake is already looking towards 2027. Fresh from unveiling his surprise visual project 'Fear of Missing Out,' the Toronto artist has confirmed that plans are underway for a new global tour next year.
The news arrived shortly before the film made its unexpected debut on YouTube, with Drake telling EtalkCanada that another run of shows is currently being put together. Details remain under wraps for now, but the announcement points towards another major year on the road following his latest stretch of releases.
Before then, though, there’s 'Fear of Missing Out.' Running for around an hour, the self-funded project brings together a team of directors including Theo Skudra, Liam Macrae, Jake Schreier, Zong Li and Glenn Michael. It jumps between snapshots of a summer in Toronto and visuals connected to Drake’s recent musical output.
Casa Loma and the CNE provide backdrops for various scenes, while the film also gets suitably strange with an Iron Man suit appearance alongside Loe Shimmy. Sexyy Red, Winnie Harlow, Lena the Plug and Drake’s mother, Sandi Graham, are among the other familiar faces appearing across the project.
Existing visuals for songs including “WNBA,” “Road Trips” and “Hoe Phase” are woven into the film, but Drake also uses the runtime to tease what’s coming next. A slowed-down reworking of Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” featuring Don Toliver makes its debut, alongside previously unheard collaborations with Toliver and Yeat.
Music from 'Maid of Honour,' 'Habibti' and 'ICEMAN' also appears throughout, turning the film into something of a bridge between Drake’s recent releases and whatever he has lined up next. At the same time, its extended format gives the rapper room to experiment with the kind of long-form music visuals that have become increasingly rare in the streaming era.
'Fear of Missing Out' was switched to private on YouTube following its initial livestream, making its surprise appearance a short-lived one. With unreleased music now teased and a global tour being prepared for 2027, however, it looks like the film was less of a standalone drop and more of an opening glimpse at Drake’s next chapter.
