New Balance are big contenders in the sneaker world since the adoption of popular styles such as the 530 into streetwear which gained notoriety by riding the ‘dad-trainer’ trend. The shoes’ versatility has gained the brand a cult-following from fashion-goers and sportspeople alike, who champion the brand’s distinctive style and functionality in equal measure.
Now, they’re entering into the world of high-fashion, with Miu Miu teasing a capsule collaboration in their SS22 collection debuted at Paris Fashion Week. A handful of models paired their updated workwear garments with New Balance 574’s in two new colourways: white and beige.
In keeping with the raw hems and loose threads of the outfits, the sneakers were given the distressed treatment with raw edges, and feature both brands’ logos in a joint label on the shoe’s tongue. In a hit of nostalgia, both shoes featured gum soles and laces matching their respective colourways.
Whilst there have been a handful of other collaborations between luxury and sneaker brands (think Adidas x Prada or Dior x Jordans), this is the first venture into sneaker wear for Italian brand Miu Miu. The capsule is set to drop early next year, so watch this space!
