Miu Miu FW25 just won Paris Fashion Week

This season, Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu is a ‘50s-inspired acid trip, characterised by a bright candy-coloured palette, bold clashing patterns, and layering to the max. Self-described as an “evaluation of the feminine,” the collection looked at how women use clothes to represent themselves, and that’s exactly what the show was: Miu Miu’s take on unapologetic self-expression.

Pulling up to Miu Miu’s show in Paris alongside A-listers like A$AP Rocky, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Corrin, Mark Eydelshteyn, and more, we found our seats in a long, butter yellow room filled with tiered seating either side of the runway. Then the sound of retro game show music filled the space, and the show kicked off.

Miuccia Prada’s commentary on how women use clothes to express themselves was seen in vests with one strap pulled down, sequin socks worn with loafers, and double layered bowler hats. The way pieces were styled felt personal and almost careless in a way that was reminiscent of throwing together a haphazard fit.

A touch of femininity appeared in bras seen beneath sparkly knits that were sharply pointed, like the bullet bras of the 1950s, contrasting with soft, slouchy outerwear like buttoned blazers and tailored jackets which added some structure to the collection. Although Miuccia Prada never let her fits feel too rigid; they all looked buttery and wearable.

Hair was scraped back into frizzy ponytails in a way that implied leaving the house in a rush, which juxtaposed layered faux furs, crystal embellished socks, and silk slips that showed Miu Miu’s grip on opulence is as tight as ever. Whilst the Miu Miu girl might be dressing in chaos, all the pieces she throws on are beautifully crafted.

At Prada’s FW25 Women’s show - only a couple weeks ago in Milan - Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons explored the idea of femininity in a way that felt casual and confident, with haphazard pieces and unconventional style. Today, Miu Miu followed in her older sister’s footsteps, only bringing more youth, colour, flair, and fun to the mix.
