Magliano x U-Power is a horny hit of workwear

Magliano is the cult club-inspired, LGBTQ+-rooted Milanese brand known for its refreshing and exciting energy of menswear. For its latest collaboration, it has teamed up with safety footwear makers U-Power. The collaboration serves as a tribute to the worker, or “Travaglio” as they are known in Italy, but also serves as an invitation to lightness.

For Fall/Winter 2023, Magliano has reinterpreted the “Scandy” model, a classic U-power silhouette, a Mary Jane with cut-out and side tears. The collaboration arrives in three playfully named colourways: the “Rave Megamix,” multi-coloured in lilac-silver-green; “Beige Megamix,” which plays with brown tones with a bright yellow inside; and the “Black Megamix,” which features contrasting neon green stitching. The shoes are made from the highest quality and feature an iron tip typical of safety shoes.

In a campaign shot by Adrian González-Cohen, we see two workers putting the shoes to good use. A series of shots feature builders’ bums, kegs down and legs spread against the backdrop of industrial equipment, and let’s just say it’s not just the steel caps that are hard in this warehouse.

González-Cohent captured the essence of daily life, including moments of work and leisure, from enjoying a cigarette to painting your nails. Amidst the saucy shots, we see authentic nods to warehouse life, as the traction-grabbing soles of the “Scandy” silhouette gather the inevitable dust of the warehouse setting.

Magliano is an Italian fashion brand founded by Luca Magliano in Bologna, the home of the Italian underground. The label is heavily influenced by Italian subcultures and nightlife, which is extended into its latest collaboration, which nods to the adoption of workwear for fashion purposes.

The Magliano x U-Power collaboration is available to purchase now from the brand’s official webstore and selected retailers, for £354.
