YSL is dropping a new film: “Father Mother Sister Brother”

YSL’s Saint Laurent Productions’ new film Father Mother Sister Brother will premiere and compete at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

The movie is written and directed by director Jim Jarmusch (known for Paterson and Only Lovers Left Alive, and stars Adam Driver (who also starred in Paterson), Luka Sabbat, Cate Blanchett, Indya Moore and Charlotte Rampling, among others.

The comedy-drama is designed as a trio of stories that surround the relationships between adult children and their parents. Each of the three chapters takes place in a different country: “Father” is set in the US, “Mother” in Dublin, Ireland, and “Sister Brother” in Paris, France.

YSL is dropping a new film: “Father Mother Sister Brother”

Father Mother Sister Brother is a kind of anti-action film, its subtle and quiet style carefully constructed to allow small details to accumulate – almost like flowers being carefully placed in three delicate arrangements,” Jarmusch said in a press statement.

This is the fourth feature film by Saint Laurent Productions, and it’s set to be released by MUBI. This is the first time a Saint Laurent film is making an appearance in official competition at the Venice Film Festival, having only taken part at Cannes Film Festival with the 2023 short films Strange Way of Life by Pedro Almodóvar and Trailer of the Film That Will Never Exist by Jean-Luc Godard, and in 2024 with feature films Emilia Pérez by Jacques Audiard, Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino, and The Shrouds by David Cronenberg.

We assume that YSL creative director Anthony Vaccarello made the costumes for Father Mother Sister Brother like he did for Emilia Pérez

Father Mother Sister Brother is set for a wider release in November, according to Letterboxd. Can’t wait for this one.
