The moods were low moments before Kiko Kostadinov SS24 by Laura and Deanna Fanning. But, within seconds of seeing its blokette-core goodness, our faith in fashion week was restored.
This dynamic twin sister duo has been responsible for some of Kiko Kostadinov’s most memorable moments. Back in February, the womenswear division teamed up with Heaven by Marc Jacobs for a peak Y2K collaboration, while its Hysteric Glamour collection in October last year brought apparel and collaborative ASICS sneakers that, arguably, catapulted the blokette movement.
It’s a brand for the girls in the know – and you can spot them a mile away thanks to the Kiko Kostadinov Trivia bag that’s tucked under their arm. On the topic of the Trivia, a number of new variants were spotlighted during Tuesday’s SS24 show – some came with pink faux-snakeskin detailing, others were drenched in rich purple stitched leather, or adorned with a chunky gold chain that tapped into the burgeoning grunge aesthetic of 2023.

The curvaceous silhouette inadvertently informed elements of the collection itself. Striped cardigans buttoned up tightly only in the middle of the stomach, creating deep-scoop necklines and open hems in a way that emulated the bag’s wavy design. Likewise, a black-and-orange striped skirt featured a Trivia-esque cut-out, revealing another layer of a sheer, frilled skirt beneath.
Stripes were the key theme this season, decorating technical funnel neck tops, mesh-panelled co-ords, squared-off off the shoulder knitwear, and more, but it wasn’t the star of the show. Instead, a fuzzy patchwork of colour – some shaved, some frilly – made up a finale dress, while technical materials were reinterpretted on tops that featured necklines made up off excess fabric joining, looking almost like a reversed collar.
The same was used on a dusty yellow dress, which combined techwear materials and drawstrings with a feminine undertone. Here, a ruffled neck paired with a pleated sash that darted across the body – a component also found on a black trench coat that transforms its shape thanks to a multitude of zippers.
While we didn’t get the best glance of the footwear thanks to the trousers often covering the shoes, we did get a glance at the materials. Neoprene was used to create sock-like slip-on ballet pumps that were complete with either black patent or colourful embossed snakeskin leather. Other ballet pumps sported bow lacing and came in bolder tones of green on brown or in orange, and featured a sneaker-leaning aesthetic.
Altogether, this was yet another strong showcase from the twin design duo. Take a look at Kiko Kostadinov SS24 by Laura and Deanna Fanning here. More Paris Fashion Week content can be found on Culted’s website, Instagram, and TikTok.
