In its recent stunts of social media erasure, Balenciaga have yet again deleted all its posts to now debut its latest campaign featuring none other than Justin Bieber. The 27-year old pop star, usually known for his laid-back, skater look, has threaded its way into the ranks of high fashion. Rising to fame as a teen idol in 2008 has guaranteed him to have many fashion phases, such as the stacked-jeans, fake glasses and snapback straight out of Purple World’s Baby look. Let’s not forget about the Bieber haircut too. He’s come a long way and has now established himself as half of a style power couple. While keeping his look for the most part casual, often seen wearing his classic sweatpants-T-shirt-beanie combo, JB tiptoes his way into high fashion in the most unexpected of ways.
An undeniable aspect to Justin’s style is versatility. One scroll through any Instagram fan account and you will notice the popstar can switch it up depending on the occasion, yet still stay true to his own aesthetic. Last month, Bieber was seen leaving a restaurant in Hollywood rocking some of his industry-friends clothing, including Kid Cudi’s MOTM III merch paired with a fleece jacket, a pair of blue denim jeans and the collaborative Asics x GmbH white trainer. Taking on an easy-going approach to today’s menswear, Biebs has industry connections which can secure him some of the top designer pieces, while still keeping it toned down.
In full West Coast fashion, JB is often seen in decked out ice, rocking all sorts of accessories. From Bottega Veneta purple sunglasses to a Huf Worldwide beanie, without forgetting Cartier bracelets, customized Polite Worldwide pearl necklaces and countless gold chains and rings, the man has an eye for gold. But his overzealous spendings is almost always paired with an easy pair of Nikes, from Dunk Lows to Jordans. Even when on stage at Coachella in 2019 rocking a matching two piece Craig Green suit, the singer matched his on-stage fit with sneakers, diamond-encrusted smiley face necklace and matching trucker hat. The thing about Bieber is, his red carpet and performance looks are somehow always tied into his street style, almost merging the two as one.
Speaking of streetwear, Justin Bieber’s style would be incomplete if we didn’t mention his own streetwear-inspired clothing line drew house. Founded three years ago, drew house offers sweatpants, t-shirts and hoodies all sported by JB himself. If there’s any way to dress like Bieber, it’s to shop straight from the source. Attending a UFC fight in June, Justin was spotted in a full drew house fit, paired with some Sk8 Hi brown Vans. Simple yet an effectively subtle publicity stunt. Hats off JB.
Perhaps offering some of his best looks to date, Justin recently flew out to Paris for his birthday earlier this year. Seen in three different outfits, he stepped out of his comfort zone wearing an all-Bottega outfit, featuring a cropped tuxedo jacket, yellow slip-on sneakers, the purple sunglasses and a Nike beanie to tone everything down. He was also seen in an oversized Isabel Marant fleece paired with baggy denim trousers and some AF1s. No matter who he is wearing or what occasion he is attending, Justin always stays true to his style. Laidback and West Coast unbothered skater vibes, and wears some of the hottest designers in the chillest of ways.
