We’ve been waiting for these ones since their debut on the Fall/Winter 2023 runway, and here they are, in the flesh – literally. The Junya Watanabe MAN x Oakley Factory Team Flesh slip-on shoes have arrived in select Japanese retail stores.
The Japanese brand’s take on the Oakley Factory Team sandal gave us a masterclass on soft launching: a runway debut six months ago that led to a discreet store launch only promoted by local Instagram pages. Yet the hype still follows.
The collaborative shoes come in Junya Watanabe MAN’s favourite colour, black, appearing laceless – think anti-slippage beach shoes meets high fashion. The pair is composed of neoprene and suede materials, giving an ever-so-subtle panelling contrast between a black and a darker black.
Just as it was the case for the Flesh shoes, Junya Watanabe MAN and Oakley Factory Team have been pretty secretive about its collaborative FW23 products. We saw a Chop Saw Mule and another Flesh shoe resembling a Mary Jane on the runway, but no announcements have yet been put forward regarding their launch.
Keep your eyes peeled as the Flesh shoe will (hopefully) receive a global launch very soon, with the two other pairs to follow.
