From musicians to creative directors, photographers and multidisciplinary artists, womxn are pioneers in the creative world, who’s recognition should extend beyond an allotted day. However, we’re using today to gather some inspiring creatives all in one helpful place – here are the femxle creatives you should know about, thank us later.
GRACE MILLER – GIRLSGIRLSGIRLS BY GRACIE
Starting her brand in lockdown, Gracie’s limited drops of printed ‘torso’ tank tops consistently sell out within minutes. Outfitting the it-girls of London and beyond, Grace’s designs highlight and celebrate the female form, all in a playful and nostalgic manner.
JERUSHA ROSE
Jerusha Rose is a creative director, stylist, filmmaker and photographer capturing people in her signature warm toned aesthetic. There’s not much she can’t do.
JYOTY
If you don’t know about Jyoty, get to know. The DJ and creative rose to fame with her viral dancehall-heavy Boiler Room set, but has since continued making waves in the scene with regular mixes, radio shows, vlogs and even her own international club nights. Get you a girl who can do both.
LEANNE ELLIOTT YOUNG & CATTYTAY – IODF
At the helm of the Institute of Digital Fashion are Leanne and Cattytay – two creatives who are at the forefront of digital fashion. Spearheading fashion’s shift into the metaverse, alongside an impressive portfolio of world-firsts, these two are instrumental in shaping the future of the fashion industry, and deserve their flowers!
LIV LITTLE
In case you weren’t already aware, Liv founded cult-favourite publication and community gal-dem, before going on to become a book author. Having had a huge impact in the fashion, arts and media industries, gal-dem has become an integral part of the publication landscape.
GOOMHEO
London-based South Korean menswear designer Goom has been semi-finalisted for this year’s LVMH prize, after graduating from CSM and showing under Fashion East last season. With a keen eye for innovative design practices, textures and cuts, the future looks bright.
BLUE
Blue, aka @confusedcu1ture, is a talented photographer and founder of modelling agency Blue Agency, which scouts “new and grunge faces”. Blue’s pictures are full of life, energy and nostalgia.
NATASHA SOMERVILLE & FRANCESCA CAPPER – POSTER GIRL
Co-founders of much-loved womenswear brand Poster Girl, Natasha and Francesca have had a huge year already, showing a confident and dynamic collection at the most recent London Fashion Week. As their brand name suggests, Poster Girl is for the fashion it-girls.
MIA SAKAI
Mia founded Aether Magazine in 2015, a fashion and art publication for young creatives, and has been creative directing for the publication ever since. Constructing a signature playful and vibrant aesthetic, shoots and features are authentic, glitter-heavy and energetic.
