Launched a decade ago, the bag has become a firm favourite for its signature detailing: studs, straps and an iconic silhouette. This season, it’s back with a line-up of matching accessories to accompany it, too. Allow us to introduce the Rockstud 23.
As with most things Valentino, the brand’s hot pink colourway features in this latest drop, alongside silver metallic, white and black iterations. Simple enough to be styled with even the loudest looks, the bag’s main point of detailing takes the form of the humble stud: a staple that has adorned Valentino Garavani accessories ever since it was introduced over ten years ago.
Never straying too far from its Italian roots, the studs are said to be inspired by the metallic details seen on the Roman Palazzo – harking back to the other pyramids seen throughout Valentino’s heritage-based design codes. However, it’s not all historical glamour – this season’s Rockstud is for the non-conformist, tapping into the alternative, aristo-punk attitude of the audience that the bag has come to be worn by.
Dropping with a glimpse into the Valentino workshop depicting how the bag is made, alongside two footwear styles in the same family, it seems the Rockstud 23 is here to stay. As Rihanna said, ‘it’s Valentino, baby’. Don’t you forget it.
