It’s Friday, and it’s been a mega week in fashion and culture. From a Stone Island and Dover Street Market collaboration to J E Cai’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM, and Monkey Shoulder Whiskey are launching a brand new initiative to help support the music industry, and Bang & Olufsen has tapped ADER ERROR for a lovely sound-meets-style get-together. Since its launch in 2014, adidas Spezial has created a culture carving impact on footwear, and now it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary by looking at the label’s past, present and future. It is launching seven unique silhouettes, including the Gazelle SPZL and Whitworth SPZL, which each take inspiration from a host of ‘80s runners. Of course, for a celebration like this, there’s a load of cool clobber thrown in the mix, too, including two lightweight jackets, the Trentham and Wingrove and a commemorative Mod Trefoil tee. For its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, J E Cai is exploring the unpredictability that can arise in order and the malfunctions that occur. This is reflected in asymmetric panelling, disjunct shoulder straps, and bleach stain-esque patterning on mini skirts, in keeping with J E Cai’s experimental approach. FW24 sees the latest update on the brand’s Algorithmic Modular System to dressing, where coded compartments can be assembled and disassembled in fully customisable ways. Worldwide FM and Monkey Shoulder Whisky launch grassroots music fund

The London-based creative organisation Total Refreshment Centre is joining forces with legendary DJ Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM, and Monkey Shoulder Whisky to launch a brand-new £10,000 music fund. It aims to help organisations such as radio stations and record stores achieve the next level. The winner will be selected by Gilles Peterson, who says the initiative is “exactly why he started Worldwide FM Radio.” 

Oakley Factory Team is getting experimental for SS24

Oakley Factory Team, the Brain Dead-powered offshoot of the Californian label, is bringing some futuristic, conceptual mules to Spring/Summer 2024. The collection merges techno-utopian architecture-inspired design with liquid materiality on a collaborative take on the Flesh sandals and an “Ocean” colourway of the Paguro slides. OTW by Vans has collaborated with Imran Potato

OTW by Vans’ newest collaboration is with New York-based designer Imran Potato. The two have got together to work on a Knu Skool MTE, looking to ‘90s skateboarding and Imran’s love of snowboarding to inspire the collaborative silhouette. It features gusseted tongues, premium watertight suede uppers, and a lugged outsole tread, all adding to its durable appeal.
