Palace Skateboards is heading further into Asia, with Singapore next on the map.
The London skate brand will open its first permanent Southeast Asian store on October 3, taking over a 154-square-metre space inside Scotts Square on Orchard Road.
One of the biggest influences comes from Raffles Singapore, with the landmark hotel informing the materials and architecture throughout the space. Teak stretches across the floor and ceiling, while clean white walls are joined by Calacatta Oro marble, referencing the interiors of Raffles, and deep blue Blue Macaubas marble, chosen as a nod to Singapore's island setting.
Palace hasn't forgotten where it came from, either. Breaking up the more polished elements is a wood-textured concrete deck wall inspired by London's Southbank, the legendary skate spot closely connected to Palace's beginnings.
An oversized Palace bulldog sits at its centre on top of a stone plinth illuminated with the outline of the Tri-Ferg, while an LED wall and mirrored surface covered in neon graphics bring some of Palace's familiar visual chaos into the space. Even the fitting room gets involved, featuring a Blue Macaubas marble stool cut into the shape of the Tri-Ferg.
To mark the opening, the brand has created a Singapore-exclusive capsule inspired by the city's "Lion City" nickname. Tracksuits, hoodies, T-shirts and accessories are decorated with a custom lion stamp graphic created specifically for the launch, giving the new location its own pieces from day one.
The Singapore opening continues a major period of international expansion for Palace, which has built a retail presence spanning cities including London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul.
Palace Singapore opens at Scotts Square, 6 Scotts Road, on October 3.
