Last night, self-portrait threw its annual Summer Party in London, bringing together friends of the brand, musicians and models for a big fashion bash. Of course, we were on hand to document the good stuff, get tattoos, and do bathroom interviews.
As far as the fashion calendar goes, self-portrait’s Summer Party is a definite highlight, with the London-based label choosing to throw the event in favour of a catwalk show, dressing its guests in the latest collections. Last night, Lisa Rinna (who celebrated her 61st birthday at the party), Barbara Palvin, Soo Joo Park, Kelly Rutherford, Headie One, Damson Idris, Stefflon Don all made it down to the legendary London venue The Roof Gardens to let loose on its scenic leafy rooftop.
self-portrait founder Han Chong was in the party spirit, dancing with guests and setting the mood for what was to come. “Celebrating with our friends and communities has always brought us a lot of joy - it’s a chance to collectively honour what makes London so special and allows us to bring together all of the people that mean so much to us. Every year, we try to evolve our Summer Party to capture the spirit of the moment - and tonight was a testament to why we started self-portrait in the first place; our aim being to make people feel relaxed and like the best versions of themselves, and above all else, to have fun,” he shared.
At The Roof Gardens Don Julio 1942 cocktails and champagne were on hand to wet any party-goer’s whistle, with Vogue and Marlboro cigarettes on hand as an hors d'oeuvre for anyone partial to a nic stick.
We were on the ground with Lyas, catching up with the guests, getting tattoos, and celebrating summer in self-portrait style. From tiny bags just big enough for your keys to a collective fear of looming London rain, Lyas made sure we got the inside scoop on what makes a self-portrait party so good and what went into the outfits on the night.
When it came to the music, Benji B, Seth Troxler, Jordss, and Lou Hayter came in heavy on the vibes, which went beyond the official dancefloor, keeping the two-stepping strong well into the venue. Boujie bars and balconies aside, you know the best spot at any spot like this is always the bathroom, and that’s exactly where we bumped into Cindy Kimberly and Damson Idris between photoshoots and make-up top-ups.
As we got further into the night, the festivities continued, as the whole party took a moment for Lisa Rinna and her blonde wig as she celebrated her 61st birthday with self-portrait. To mark the milestone, self-portrait sorted us out with some birthday cake made by Lily Vanilli, which was so big it took four people to carry it across the venue.
self-portrait is celebrating its 11th year, marking over ten years of redefining women’s wardrobes with a contemporary elegance appreciated worldwide. In recent years the brand’s product categories have expanded to include denim, knitwear and most recently jewellery which was launched this summer. The summer party is the chance to bring together muses, mates and fashion insiders as the brand continues its pioneering approach, putting its designs in the spotlight in a way that connects with its consumers.
