Nike Japan has sparked speculation around a potential new anime collaboration, revealing its first official teaser for an upcoming project with 'One Piece'.

The announcement came via Nike Japan’s social channels, where the sportswear giant shared a cryptic image featuring a Poneglyph, one of the ancient stone tablets central to the 'One Piece' storyline. A Nike Swoosh has been carved into the centre of the stone, while the image is accompanied by just two words: “ROMANCE DAWN.”

For fans of Eiichiro Oda’s globally renowned manga and anime, the phrase carries plenty of significance. “Romance Dawn” is the name associated with 'One Piece'’s opening story, immediately connecting the teaser to the origins of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to become the Pirate King.

The move could mark one of Nike’s more notable steps into the anime space. While brands such as PUMA have established a stronger presence in the category through multiple anime-inspired footwear releases, Nike has approached the culture more selectively. Its previous high-profile anime venture included a limited 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' collaboration in 2025.

For now, Nike is keeping the details firmly under wraps. There has been no confirmation of which footwear models will feature, whether the project will extend into apparel and accessories, or when the collection is expected to release.

The fact that the teaser has been posted through Nike Japan’s regional channels also leaves the project's availability unclear. It could point towards a Japan-exclusive release, although a wider international launch cannot yet be ruled out.

Either way, the Poneglyph teaser suggests Nike and 'One Piece' have something substantial in the works. More details are expected to emerge as the collaboration moves closer to release.
