Running into Thomas Meacock in the middle of London wasn’t exactly what we expected to be doing last Saturday morning, but when we bumped into him on Brompton Road and he told us he was trying to complete Loro Piana x Harrods’ new Festive Quest game, we knew we had to join him. Here’s what went down.
For Loro Piana’s Harrods takeover, the Maison has just dropped an interactive game - called Festive Quest - that lets you get involved in its history, hit up Harrods holiday window displays, and win a couple of prizes (ofc).
The basics of the game are that you start on Brompton Road in front of one of the Baby Cashmere windows where you scan the QR code in the first Loro Piana-themed Harrods window. From there, you follow a window-to-window trail to Hans Crescent, answering questions around key clues in the windows along the way – so that’s exactly what we did. Walking up the street with Thomas, we got talking about the holidays.
Dressed in a full Loro Piana look, from his shoes to the cashmere jumper on his back, Thomas told us, “this is actually the finest cashmere from Italy. It almost feels like I’m still in bed - it’s beautifully comfortable.”
Hitting up the first festive window outside Harrods, the app asked us “what whimsical symbol joins the Baby Cashmere sheep on its adventures?” and you already know we got the answer right.
As we followed the trail, we got chatting about the pending holiday season, and asked Thomas the latest date he’s ever copped his friend’s and fam’s gifts. “Me and my brother [go gift shopping] on the 23rd. We go to one shop together and we don’t leave until we’ve nailed all the presents.” Sounds productive.
10 windows, 10 questions, and 10 fun facts later, we ended up at our destination: Harrods itself, where we got out the cold and into Loro Piana’s festive takeover. Looking around the space filled with Loro Piana’s elevated accessories and fine cashmere clothing, we got talking about the real reason everyone loves the holidays: gifts.
When we asked Thomas if he’d rather give or receive a gift, he said, “I know I should say ‘give a gift’, but I do love receiving them.” And what a coincidence, because that’s literally what you get at the end of Festive Quest - limited edition prize from Loro Piana secured. If you want a go at Loro Piana x Harrods’ Festive Quest and take home a prize yourself, hit up Brompton Road from December 12th to 22nd and scan the QR code.
