Everything you missed from Art Basel Miami 2024

It seems like everyone was “out here in Miami” (shoutout Sexy Redd) this week and that’s because of Art Basel Miami Beach, an annual week reserved for the hottest talent in contemporary art, from emerging to established.

Since being founded in 1970 in Basel and brought to Miami Beach in 2002, it’s become one of the most important cultural events in the US for drawing thousands of art enthusiasts across the world.

The traffic, this year, seemed heavier than ever and for good reason too. Here are some of our picks for the best moments this year.

Although Demna’s Balenciaga’s changed the brand dramatically over the years, Łukasz Stokłosa takes it back to the Cristobal era with this painting of the vintage dress.

After a quick trip to London for the Fashion Awards, fashion’s favourite couple A$AP Rocky and Rihanna showed out in Miami as they were seen leaving Carbone after a date. Wherever they go, we’re watching.

A pop-up for the 100-year history of Cartier’s Trinity

To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Cartier’s Trinity range, the brand did a pop-up to showcase the history of the rings that ranged from the 1920s, when it first debuted, to iconic ads and campaigns from the ‘70s. Paul Mescal was there too - on the film strip, unfortunately.

Parking lot murals by Gucci and Corydon Cowansage

It’s never easy trying to make a mundane parking lot look interesting but it looks like Corydon Crowansage and Gucci really nailed it. The ginormous mural on Sweet Bird North Plaza can’t be missed, and it definitely shouldn't be either.

Bre Andy’s intimate paintings at Cierra Britton gallery

With a standout solo exhibition, Bre Andy’s portraits capture the intimacy of a woman’s private life in contrast to her public life. Some crazy paintings with the coldest Sandy Liang ballet flats.

Andreas Gursky replicates the front row experience

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be front row at a show, then look no further than Andreas Gursky’s image “Viktor & Rolf II” that perfectly depicts the 2009 runway in Paris.

Bottega Veneta’s fan favourite animal chairs

Ever wanted to see the exact chairs that Jacob Elordi, A$AP Rocky and Kylie Jenner have sat on. Well, now you can, with Bottega Veneta’s animal chairs from this past Milan Fashion Week being on show in an assortment titled “The Ark.”

There’s no better way to be greeted to Art Basel Miami than stepping onto art as you enter. That’s where Pucci’s artistic director Camille Miceli’s walkway comes in with a hypnotising print of pink, purple, white and brown swirls.

Jaguar’s Copy Nothing brought the drama

Jaguar’s “Copy Nothing” was a deep dive into its rebrand and a first look at the Jaguar Type 00 in the flesh. On top of Ib Kamara and Skepta hitting up the opening - and Big Smoke even performing live - Jaguar also linked up with a bunch of the most GOATed artists out there rn to channel the creativity that their rebrand is all about.
