Challenge the Fabric (CTF) has announced the finalists of the CTF Award 2024. The annual competition promotes and encourages using bio-based and recycled materials while establishing long-term partnerships between emerging designers and potential sustainable materials partners.
Nine designers will be challenged to create one look using 10 metres of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) fabric provided by sustainable materials partners. The looks will be showcased at an exhibition in Milan on May 14 and 15 and judged on creativity and innovation in working with MMCF fabric. The winner will be announced during the event and awarded a $10,000 cash prize.
That sounds pretty good, right? Well, it gets even better. The exhibition will be launched at a cocktail party at Centro Congressi Fondazione Cariplo in Milan, where guests can see the designs in person and interact with the creatives, partners, and stakeholders of the MMCF supply chain.
The jury for the CTF Award 2024, which is organised in partnership with Ekman Group and the Swedish Fashion Council, consists of industry professionals, including Andrea Rosso, Diesel Living’s Sustainability Ambassador; Caterina Tonda, RTW Sustainable Development Manager for Material Innovation Lab at Kering; Pavel Dler, Founder and CEO of Culted, and Wilson Oreyma, artist-writer, co-founder of the Surface Tension platform and Research Director at Austron Research.
With a panel of judges from across the global fashion landscape, the CTF Award 2024 is a key initiative to help push fashion into a more sustainable future. By introducing designers to key industry professionals from across different sectors, the opportunities for material innovation offer something new and exciting in the world of fashion and textiles.
