COS is back in New York, and this season, office dressing is getting a dose of after-hours glamour.
For its fifth consecutive New York Fashion Week show, the London label presented its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection inside the WSA building in Manhattan’s Financial District. Across 57 looks, COS brought together the clean precision of corporate tailoring with references to the decadence and fluidity of the 1920s.
The colour palette largely keeps things restrained. Cool grey, black and navy dominate, joined by softer browns and light neutrals, before flashes of rich purple break up the collection’s otherwise muted mood. From there, texture does much of the talking.
Double-faced cashmere is wrapped, draped and extended into dramatic maxi proportions, while cinched waists and exaggerated collars bring definition to the softer silhouettes. Floral embroidery, fringe and pleating add another layer of movement, sitting alongside raw-cut leather, suede and traditional herringbone fabrics.
Womenswear leans into the idea of a wardrobe that can comfortably clock in and stay out. Long coats provide the foundation, while COS reshapes its familiar tailoring with more sculptural proportions and coordinated separates. The collection's 1920s influence becomes clearer through its dresses, where dropped waists, asymmetric hems, sheer elements and loose draping introduce a more sensual counterpoint to the stricter suiting.
Menswear follows a similarly polished route. Double-breasted outerwear, epaulettes and pinstripes bring a traditional sartorial feel, while shirting, half-zip knits and cardigans keep things grounded in everyday dressing. Trouser shapes move between slim and wide, with tonal ties, Derby shoes and loafers completing the uniform.
The result sees COS finding common ground between two very different references: the sharp, ordered wardrobe of the modern city and the expressive glamour of a century ago. It’s business up top, decadence after dark, with plenty of COS minimalism holding the two together.
