French fashion label Coperni is bringing its operations to an end, with founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant confirming the closure following an extended dispute with shareholder and distribution partner Tomorrow.

Known for its experimental approach to fashion and technology, Coperni has become one of Paris Fashion Week’s most talked-about names, delivering viral runway moments including Bella Hadid’s spray-on dress and its robotic presentation featuring Boston Dynamics machines.

However, behind the brand’s creative success, financial difficulties and disagreements over its commercial future have brought operations to a halt. The situation escalated when Tomorrow terminated its licensing agreement over outstanding payments, prompting Coperni to seek protection through the Paris commercial court.

Further uncertainty followed Tomorrow’s acquisition by Progetto 11, a holding company associated with The Level Group, in March. Despite efforts by Meyer and Vaillant to regain ownership and control of their business, negotiations failed to produce a resolution. The cancellation of Coperni’s Fall/Winter 2026 runway show marked another setback before the founders confirmed that the label’s main French operating company, Coperni SAS, would cease trading.

In a joint statement, the designers reflected on eight years of building the brand, expressing pride in its achievements while suggesting that their creative ambitions remain unchanged.

Although Coperni’s immediate future has come to an end, Meyer and Vaillant have indicated that they intend to continue exploring new ideas, leaving the possibility of future projects open.
