Brands that are worth the hype: NO/FAITH STUDIOS

To build an empire like NO/FAITH STUDIOS’, it takes a lot more than just designing cool clothes - it’s about building a community. That’s exactly what the German brand has done so successfully, with an online cult that will follow whatever the brand drops and teases. But how did NO/FAITH get here?

NO/FAITH was founded by Luis Dobblegarten - the German native born and raised in the small town of Mechernich - who initially started toying with the idea of a clothing brand when he was 13, screen printing tees and selling them to his school friends. At 15, Dobblegarten officially started NO/FAITH STUDIOS where he upcycled H&M cargo pants with several zippers and patches with his grandmother, his friend and his friend’s grandmother. After his first drop when he was 16, it was all about slow progression before he had his break when he was 20 with his first denim drop that pushed the restrictive confinements of jeans. Since then, he’s also expanded his team, working alongside his older brother Leon and his best friend Moritz Himmler

With an accidental push into the Y2K aesthetic (which worked in Luis’ favour because, well, look at how prominent Y2K is now), the brand grew rapidly, creating a cult following that became obsessed with the vision that Luis set out. Being such a young designer (only 24 years old now), his tastes have grown as time has passed by. Now, his ethos has a very strong leniency towards militarywear and grunge subcultures with nods to the work of Raf Simons and Helmut Lang.

His product range has increased too, with heavy leather experimentation that, like his denim, pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with the fabrication. The brand’s been teasing an upcoming GAP collaboration too, slated to drop on Black Friday later this month with over 40 new pieces including a jaw-dropping shearling jacket with the most perfect silhouette as well as a reversible corduroy bomber jacket. They also released a NFS Basic Denim line not too long ago - what seems to be a permanent collection of four essential jeans in different cuts, ranging from slim to loose. Their double-layered tees have been gaining heavy traction online too, with a flattering boxy fit that’s slowly making its way into every it-boy’s wardrobe.

With co-signs from Travis Scott and Drake on their tour outfits as well as being stocked on major sites such as SSENSE, H. Lorenzo and CCC, there’s really no stopping them now. The sky’s the limit for Luis and his team, there’s no doubt that NO/FAITH STUDIOS will become a household fashion name in the near future.
