Brain Dead is celebrating the fans with its NBA collaboration

Brain Dead is championing passion this season, releasing a special collection with six different NBA teams. Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors all feature across a host of collaborative apparel.

The capsule comprises T-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets, which all get a playful Brain Dead revamp. This isn’t your usual merch collaboration, and instead takes a fashion-forward approach to design. Alpaca sweaters house team logos, and utilitarian MA2-style bomber jackets feature embroidered NBA branding, nodding to Brain Dead’s subculturally rooted streetwear foundations.

Campaign images showcase a range of cartoon monsters donning the pieces in a series of comically-edited images, blending IRL products with vibrant drawings. Each monster demonstrates the playful rivalry shared between each team, bringing the graphics to life.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Brain Dead shared the inspiration behind the collection: “Every fan, of anything, is our muse. We celebrate passions and we embrace opinions, that’s why we’re releasing a special collection featuring six different NBA teams. No matter who you root for, we root for you.”

Braindead’s NBA collection doesn’t feel like any sports-meets-fashion offering and instead aligns with the brand’s graphic-heavy, detail-focused approach, which draws on the collective of underground artists and creatives that work with the brand.

The NBA x Brain Dead collection will be available at 10:00 a.m. PT via the Brain Dead website, Brain Dead studios on Fairfax and Brain Dead Studios Sunset.
