Balenciaga is gearing up for this year's Qixi Festival on August 19 by unveiling a special capsule collection celebrating one of China's most significant annual holidays.

Known as Chinese Valentine's Day, the festival honours love and devotion, with the house using the occasion to reinterpret a selection of its signature ready-to-wear pieces and accessories through a playful, romance-inspired lens.

Designed for both menswear and womenswear, the QIXI 26 collection spans everyday staples including T-shirts, hoodies, short-sleeve shirts, gym shorts, denim jackets, mini skirts, jersey skirts and cotton caps. Throughout the range, Balenciaga introduces handwritten "I U" and "I♥ U 2" graphics, accompanied by feathered arrow motifs that visually connect when garments are worn together.

Among the standout pieces is a limited-edition version of the house's Le City Moto Bag. Crafted from black suede, the silhouette is decorated with sparkling crystal embellishments depicting stars, ribbon bows, arrow-pierced hearts and Balenciaga's handwritten "B" logo. The sketch-like motifs are intended to resemble hand-drawn notebook doodles, adding a youthful and light-hearted feel to one of the brand's most recognisable accessories.

While Balenciaga is no stranger to creating region-specific releases, the QIXI 26 collection places a particular emphasis on storytelling, combining the house's distinctive visual language with symbols associated with romance and connection. The collection will launch globally through selected Balenciaga stores and online ahead of this year's Qixi Festival.
