Balenciaga is turning its attention to eyewear for Fall/Winter 2026, unveiling a new collection that sees the house revisit familiar silhouettes through a contemporary lens.
Continuing Balenciaga's exploration of everyday accessories, the collection looks at how relatively simple eyewear designs can be transformed through considered details. From reworked proportions to unexpected hardware, the new frames take recognisable styles and introduce subtle changes that give them an entirely different character.
Leading the collection is the NOVA, a contemporary interpretation of the classic cat-eye silhouette. Featuring a smooth, elongated frame with an oblong shape, the design offers a more understated approach to Balenciaga's eyewear offering. Stepped temples introduce an additional layer of structure, while the house's signature BB logos appear along the sides, providing a recognisable finishing touch without dominating the overall design.
While the cat-eye is a familiar fixture in eyewear, Balenciaga's interpretation moves away from exaggerated angles in favour of softer proportions and a streamlined finish. Elsewhere, the COSMO takes a noticeably more experimental approach. Offered in both rectangular and rounded variations, the design places its emphasis on the hinges, where two raised metal elements come together to create a distorted interpretation of Balenciaga's Nano BB logo. The detailing is accompanied by a concave section, introducing an additional sense of depth and giving the frames a more sculptural appearance.
While the overall silhouettes remain relatively familiar, the unconventional hardware brings a new dimension to the design, transforming what would typically be a functional component into one of the frame's most distinctive features. The warped branding also offers a different take on traditional logo placement, incorporating the house's identity directly into the structure of the eyewear.
With its FW26 eyewear offering, Balenciaga continues to demonstrate how even the smallest accessories can provide room for experimentation. Bringing together familiar silhouettes and unexpected design choices, the NOVA and COSMO offer two different perspectives on contemporary eyewear, with both carrying the house's distinctive visual identity.
