Zendaya is heading back into sci-fi, this time alongside filmmaker Alex Garland for a mysterious new project from A24. The upcoming film will see Garland take on both writing and directing duties, with production expected to begin in 2027.

While the studio is keeping the storyline firmly under wraps, the announcement brings together two familiar A24 collaborators. Zendaya previously worked with the studio on 'Euphoria' and 'The Drama', the latter starring Robert Pattinson, while Garland has established a long-standing relationship with A24 through films including 'Ex Machina', 'Men', 'Civil War' and 'Warfare'.

For Zendaya, the news adds another major project to an already packed schedule. The actress has spent 2026 balancing some of Hollywood's biggest franchises, with Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey', 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'Dune: Part Three' all contributing to a particularly busy year.

Garland, meanwhile, is no stranger to ambitious sci-fi storytelling. Having built a reputation for exploring the darker side of technology, humanity and society, the British filmmaker is also developing a big-screen adaptation of the hit video game 'Elden Ring'.

There's currently no confirmed title, additional cast or release date for the new film. However, with Zendaya leading the cast, Garland behind the camera and A24 backing the project, it's already shaping up to be one worth keeping an eye on.
