Netflix has taken over one of Los Angeles' most famous stretches of road, but this time the star of the show isn't on a screen.
Suspended more than 30 feet above the Sunset Strip, a fully furnished living room has appeared high above the traffic, complete with books, plants, curtains, an armchair and one very unexpected resident.
The unusual installation has been created to celebrate the arrival of 'The Last House', Netflix's latest science-fiction thriller, and it's every bit as strange as the film itself. From Thursday until Sunday, a performer will live inside the billboard, turning one of the city's most recognisable advertising spaces into a giant public stage.
Drivers and pedestrians passing below have already spotted the mystery occupant stretching, eating meals, listening to music and peering down at the crowds through a pair of binoculars. Dressed in pyjamas and a bright red robe, he's also been holding up handwritten messages on a whiteboard, inviting passers-by to become part of the spectacle.
'The Last House' follows a family forced to work together after becoming trapped inside their own home by an unknown and increasingly sinister force. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film stars Great Lee, Wagner Moura and Gabriel Barbosa.
For a city famous for oversized billboards, this might be the first one with a tenant. And, judging by the crowds gathering below, Netflix's latest marketing stunt is proving difficult to ignore.
