On Wednesday, 150 potential jurors for the P Diddy case were asked if they recognized a selection of A-list celebrities who could potentially appear during the trial.
The list of 190 names mentioned included Michael B. Jordan, Kid Kudi, Kanye West, Lauren London, Dawn Richard, and “Austin Powers” actor Mike Myers, among some of Diddy’s family members, according to Variety. The same questionnaire also attempted to assess their knowledge of Combs, their views on law enforcement, and asked them whether they had experienced a sexual assault, among other questions.
While we don’t have any info on the relevance of the 190 names on the list just yet, we can speculate why they might have a connection to the trial. Michael B. Jordan is likely on the list because he went on a date with Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and the trial’s star witness. Kudi, meanwhile, may have been mentioned because, according to Variety, prosecutors believe he is the victim of a car bombing committed by Combs in 2011.
Jurors were also asked about two Manhattan hotels: The Essex House Hotel and The Peninsula, where some of the abuse allegedly occurred.
P Diddy is facing a five-count indictment accusing him of sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy. Opening arguments for the case are likely to begin on May 12th.
The music mogul has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and has denied all other allegations of misconduct leveled against him.
