Stormzy hasn’t released any new music in a hot minute, so it was a sweet surprise to see his new single “SORRY RACH!” on our IG feeds this morning. And he’s throwing bars.
The rapper was recently criticised for his McDonald’s partnership and removing pro-Palestine messages from his IG after being vocal about his support for Palestine, and he comments on it in his song: “I heard they wanna hang me out to drive for a nugget meal / The world might never love your way again but my mother will”.
In terms of who the “RACH” he’s referring to is, it could either be his sister Rachael – he’s written “Rachael’s Little Brother” for her, and her IG comment under his new drop could confirm it. Or he could be talking about his PR Rachel Campbell, who most definitely had to do the groundwork for the Maccies mishap, the internet’s saying it’s her voice at the start of the track.
Whatever the case, Stormzy’s bringing back the tunes.
And with the rapper showing out on the Met Gala red carpet on Monday donning Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, we’re thinking… are we seeing a Stormzy renaissance this summer? That’d be insane considering we haven’t seen a Stormzy album since This Is What I Mean back in 2022.
