Did you catch these Alexander McQueen references in Lady Gaga’s Coachella performance?

Lady Gaga’s Coachella 2025 performance had us all gagged with the drama, the outfits and the cult Alexander McQueen references.

In her nearly two-hour-long performance on Friday, Mother Monster was inspired by her latest album, Mayhem, bringing strong theatrics that referenced her iconic fashion moments, and two Alexander McQueen runway shows.

During her performance of “Paparazzi”, Gaga nodded to McQueen’s FW03 show “Scanners” with her ethereal white cape flowing as she sang the chorus, mirroring McQueen’s show finalé.

For “Poker Face” she referenced Alexander McQueen’s SS05 collection “It’s Only A Game” with her chessboard choreography. In the McQueen show, the models became chess figures, creating a human chess game.

The artist had always backed Alexander McQueen, wearing multiple iconic pieces over the years, including the Armadillo boots in her “Bad Romance” music video and donning a FW98 red dress at the VMAs in 2009. At the 2010 Brit Awards she even paid tribute to the late designer (who had passed a week before) as she performed “Telephone”.
