The album that SZA’s been teasing since 2023 - she’s been uploading cover art to IG since December 11th last year - is finally coming. Today, SZA took to socials yesterday to post a video of herself crossing a ravine in the middle of the woods, and peeing - her ✨miiind✨ - with the caption: “Clock starts now. Happy anniversary 🪲” So what do we know so far?
Although it’s been confirmed that her upcoming album Lana is the deluxe version of SZA’s second album SOS, SZA recently went on Kai Cenat’s livestream to talk about “a whole new project” that people have yet to hear, that will “be out “before the year is over”. So whilst we know there will be features of the album that are recognisable, “Lana” is something new for SZA as well.
The teaser video posted yesterday features audio of SZA singing over what fans have identified as a sample of The Isley Brothers’ "Voyage To Atlantis". And we’re ngl, it slaps. We also know that SZA recently announced she’ll be touring with Kendrick Lamar - who’s album GNX just dropped, with SZA featuring multiple times - so it’s likely Kdot will appear on a track or two on “Lana”.
SZA hasn’t announced a release date for her new album just yet, but trust we’ll be keeping topi posted so watch this space. We gotchu.
