It’s CULTED with your 60-second ART BLAST.
Bidding has just started today on Christie’s online auction dedicated to Daniel Arsham, which marks the first single-artist online sale by any international auction house. Called “Daniel Arsham: Archeology of the Future”, works include eroded clocks, basketballs, and a nearly one-foot-tall blue crystallised Pikachu!
The impressive sale got us wondering how the contemporary artist built such a stellar profile…
Raised in Miami, Arsham went to the Design and Architecture High School, before attending the Cooper Union in NYC. After studying, Arsham moved back to Miami to pursue his passion for art and became a co-founder of the artist run spaces in Miami called “The House”. It’s clear to see his interest in collaborations started early!
In 2004 legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham asked him to design the staging for his latest work, and Arsham’s collabs began rolling in.
Arsham’s work exists somewhere between architecture, performance, and of course art, and his quirky style has led him to collaborate with some of the biggest names in fashion. He’s had many successful collabs with Dior, both under Hedi Slimane and Kim Jones, as well as teaming up with pop culture giants like Pokemon.
So guys are you a Daniel Arsham fan?
