CELINE has officially unveiled the CT-03 sneaker, which comes as an ode to classic basketball silhouettes like the Air Jordan 1 and Forum High, and carries over some hallmark detailing found across Hedi Slimane’s footwear arsenal. The midsole manages to capture the Air Jordan 1’s aesthetic and turn it very premium with subtle CELINE branding on the midfoot, and a cross-foot strap adds some more luxury fashion to what is essentially a classic sporting silhouette.
The latest CELINE HOMME sneaker blends elements of the CT-01 and CT-02 models to become a new beast entirely. The midfoot strap is borrowed from the CT-02 (albeit modified and enlarged) while the high cut and general shape of the CT-01 is employed. While doing all of this, the paneling is revised to create a more refined silhouette that would have blended in perfectly on the hardwood court in the 80’s.

The 80’s basketball shoe has never been more popular, with heritage styles worn on court by the titans from a bygone era of the NBA being present (and incredibly dominant) in the sneaker world: Air Jordan 1’s, Dunks, the adidas Forum and Converse’s Weapon to name but a few. Gen-Z have an obsession with all things retro, vintage and the past, so it’s no surprise that these silhouettes are without a doubt front runners for consumers – blockbuster collaborative partnerships with the likes of Travis Scott, J Balvin and Virgil Abloh have only cemented their widespread popularity and appeal.

The sneaker is releasing in two colorways, a black/white iteration and a far more notable orange rendition which borrows from the fan-favorite Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” that was released in 2015 and now holds a market value of over $2000. The CT-03 releases June 18 for $790 through CELINE stores and online.
