Burberry has just released a series of banging portraits featuring England players Eberechi Eze and Phil Foden, celebrating the bond between football and British culture.

Burberry has long been associated with the beautiful game, being a go-to on the terraces and an off-duty staple for some of England’s goal-scoring greats. The latest portrait series follows Burberry’s previous work with Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Son Heung-min, who have worked with the brand across recent campaigns and shows.

For the series, Burberry follows Phil Foden to a football pitch in his hometown of Stockport, donning pieces from Burberry’s most recent collection. Against a rainy backdrop, the midfielder reflects on times spent watching Manchester City Games. When asked about the role of football and fashion, he shared what it meant to work with the label. “Fashion is important to me, and I’m so excited to be a part of this moment with Burberry. It was amazing to be able to shoot in my hometown of Stockport and to work with this iconic British brand.”

Eberechi Eze shared how football has been a part of his life while donning a bomber jacket and trousers in Burberry’s House check to dodge the rain. Eze reflects on the connection and shared feelings of celebration that football fosters, adding, “I’m so proud to partner with such an iconic British brand in Burberry. They’ve supported myself and my foundation before, helping my community and inspiring the next generation with career experience and education, which we will continue to build. It’s a special moment for me and my family.”

Portraits have become a quintessential component of Daniel Lee’s Burberry, with the photographic medium used to document muses and friends of the House. Previous subjects include King Krule, Damon Alburn, and Bukayo Saka, cementing the relationship between Burberry and wider culture. And for a brand like Burberry, which is as British as beans on toast, tapping into footie with its fashionable flair makes perfect sense.

With the Euros around the corner, Burberry’s latest campaign stars Eberechi Eze and Phil Foden scored some early fashion goals.
