Balenciaga Winter 2023 is rolling out, and now Demna follows up on the release of the House’s new Monaco bag with a hotly-anticipated item: the Balenciaga Biker Boot. 

Seen during the Balenciaga Winter 2023 runway show – in which Demna vowed to take a step back from gimmicks and look at fashion not as “entertainment,” but as a vessel to create clothes that celebrate the craft of design – the new Biker Boot is arguably one of the most contradictory items of the collection.

Why? Because for a collection that marked a change in the House’s direction, aiming to be considered true luxury rather than opting for viral marketing ploys, the boots are far from subtle and Parisian-chic. 

But that’s not to say that the Biker Boot isn’t incredible. Coming in at $5,600, the pair can be yours in either “White/Beige/Black,” “Black,” or an authentically-motorsports-inspired “Red/White/Black” combination.

Premium calfskin leather combines with hardwearing TPU elements to create a boot that looks as if it could function on the MotoGP circuit – however, we wouldn’t advise this. Instead, they’re destined to be stunted during a front row moment at Paris Fashion Week. 

Worn-out detailing is applied all over the boot, distressing the ribbed vamp shield and other protection-inspired elements around the pair. As for branding, it’s typically Balenciaga, hitting up component after component (just in case you need to remind yourself of who you are wearing). Likewise, the sizing hits up the heel in EU style. 

The Balenciaga Biker Boot has to be one of the most daring designs from Demna of late, and it’s safe to say that it’s going to be divisive. It seems, then, that the House still wants to stand out with a subversive edge – something that was also explored in the Winter 2023 runway show as models sported padded shoulder hoodies and twisted body proportions alongside these very boots.
