Last week, we got our hands on the Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” and Air Jordan 6 “Pearl” just in time for the Olympics. What you might not know is that we were out in New York with FD From The Future on a mission to spread some Jordan love.
While FD was out there, he was providing his usual sneaker goodness, nodding to the Air Jordan’s heritage by taking his mic to the basketball courts of the Big Apple. As he was getting into the swing of things, he got the call-up from the big guys at Nike, who sent him on a mega mission to Paris to share the Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” and Air Jordan 6 “Pearl” with the sneaker community of Paris.
The AJ4 “Wet Cement” is inspired by the cobblestone streets of Paris, seen in its rugged aesthetic where an elevated material makeup of nubuck, leather and suede is topped with a titanium dioxide finish for a “rue-inspired” look. The Women’s Air Jordan 6 Retro “Pearl” takes design cues from Paris’ grand fashion legacy with a Pure Platinum shade, nodding to Paris’ iconic bridges and classic cafes, with pearl adornments on the laces adding an elevated Parisian touch.

The Call

The day kicked off at the courts near Canal Street, where FD pulled out some box fresh “Wet Cement” Jordan 4s for the camera. After getting the call, we made a dash for the Metro, moving quickly to get on the next flight to Paris. But just when we thought things were going a bit too smoothly, we realised we’d suffered a sneaker mission casualty—we’d left our NYC cameraman behind. Still, we committed to the cause and began our Big Apple to Paris adventure.
Paris
Given that the Paris Olympics kicked off while we were there, FD made a strong case for adding a new sport to the competition: speed packing. After racing around the city, he crammed a case full of Jordans and a week’s worth of clothing into his suitcase quicker than Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second world record 100-metre sprint. Then, it was a foot-to-the-floor dash to JFK.
Delivering the goods
We landed and got straight down to business, setting our sights on Paris’ sneakerheads to deliver the Air Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” and Air Jordan 6 “Pearl.” Despite being more than 3,000 miles away from New York, everyone was fluent in the language of Air Jordan, with the latest models going down a treat on the streets of Paris. But it wasn’t all sneakers; FD was schooled in French and the Olympics and even got to see first-hand how the “Wet Cement” was inspired by the City of Love.
Despite being a cameraman down, one thing is for sure; everyone loves Air Jordans. If you fancy nabbing the Jordan 4 “Wet Cement” or Jordan 6 “Pearl,” head to the Nike SNKRS site.
