The creative Director at Camper and CAMPERLAB, Achilles Ion Gabriel, will be debuting his eponymous ready-to-wear brand at Pitti Uomo 105, taking place in Florence in January 2024.

The invite-only biannual menswear trade show has already announced Luca Magliano, of MAGLIANO, and Steven Stoke-Daley, of S.S.DALEY, as guest designers for the occasion, making it the perfect environment for a debut collection. Gabriel will also be presenting the collection later in the month, during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

The designer’s debut collection is said to be “fully immersive,” and focus on gender-neutral pieces. “I am very excited to debut the first ready-to-wear collection of Achilles Ion Gabriel and share my creative vision at Pitti Uomo,” he says.

Gabriel studied architecture before making his way into the world of fashion. Originally from Finland, the creative moved to and spent quite some time in Paris, before his venture with Camper flew him off to Mallorca, the brand’s birth spot.

While Camper is a footwear brand, Gabriel has rejected the title of footwear designer in the past, preferring to be called a shoe-maker. Instead of focusing on the aesthetics of the design, Gabriel prefers to hone in on the construction aspect, gauging how that can then inform the design.

We’ve seen a fun and somewhat surreal output from Camper under Gabriel’s direction, especially with CAMPERLAB, its contemporary younger sibling brand that largely focuses on exaggerated silhouettes and collaborations. Since Gabriel’s creativity has only manifested itself into footwear, his slate remains blank for his first foray into apparel.

After its Debut Collection Pitti Uomo 105 and his Paris Men’s Fashion Week reveal, Achilles Ion Gabriel will be available on its website, as well as select retailers, yet to be revealed.
