London skate imprint Palace Skateboards has released its Winter 23 lookbook, preparing us for winter, one big jacket at a time.
Weather-ready GORE-TEX features throughout the collection, working with fleece and shearling jackets for a cold-beating cosiness. Headwear arrives in the form of beanie hats, with Polartec skull-cap styles featuring alongside faux fur and bobble styles to keep you warm.
The lookbook boasts a cool collection of caps, some with flappy ear detailing for when the temperature drops. Heavyweight jackets are consistent throughout the collection, with the now iconic Pertex Balaclava Puffer returning in muted camo print, with another colourway incorporating blue and red colour-blocking, complete with Tri-Ferg branding to the arm.
The skate brand took to Instagram in the days before the lookbook announcement to reveal a collaboration with British artist Chila Kumari Burman, who is celebrated for her radical feminist practice, with her work examining issues of representation, gender and cultural identity. Her latest canvas is a Palace puffer jacket and long-sleeved shirt, which will be released as part of the upcoming collection.
Palace brought back its usual bangers, such as football-inspired tops and football jerseys, this time featuring a polar bear graphic, worn oversized and modelled by PWBC member and NYC skater Shawn Powers. Knitwear is previewed through a leopard print cardigan, grey sweaters with “Pal” branding and striped knitted polos.
Palace Skateboards was founded in 2009 as a crew of London skateboards. Thanks to its refreshing, UK-centred approach, it very quickly built out an enviable team of skaters. Now, the brand is not only known for its captivating skate videos (as we recently saw with Beta Blockers), but also its solid clothing drops, which have catapulted the label to worldwide acclaim.
The first instalment of Palace’s Winter 23 offering will be released on September 29 in the UK, US and EU, followed by a Japan and China release on September 30.
