Start your week right by getting clued up on the stuff you should know about. Manneh is having a moment, with Drama Call releasing a series of limited edition all-black tracksuits to celebrate five years, while Birkenstock is nodding to the Northern history of corduroy. Martine Rose is blessing us with banging outerwear in time for winter, and Chloé has announced a new Creative Director. Find out what’s good in Culted’s Monday Briefing.

Birkenstock channels the Northern history of corduroy

Birkenstock has given a range of its most popular styles a hard-wearing corduroy revamp, nodding to the Mancunian roots of the materials. Originally favoured by factory workers in the 19th century, it was the go-to fabric during the height of the industrial revolution thanks to its hard-wearing appeal. To launch Birkenstock’s latest campaign, corduroy iterations of the Arizona, Boston, Kyoto, and Bend silhouettes are shot against an industrial backdrop, with the colourful, durable styles offering a playful pop of colour. Issey Miyake launches RHYTHYM CHECK series for FW23

Issey Miyake is introducing the RHYTHM CHECK series, inspired by the moving rhythm of a checkered pattern. The soft and three-dimensional look is the product of intentional shrinkage. Shrinking yarn is woven into the fabric in a grid pattern before being processed in high-temperature water, which results in a unique shrunken texture. The outcome is a series of textured and three-dimensional garments, arriving in a selection of muted orange and red hues alongside a standout green hue used across mini-dresses, shorts, cardigans and trousers. The Issey Miyake Rhythm collection is available to shop in-store and online now.
