A few days ago, Kanye West announced a 10 year Yeezy and Gap collab, throwing the internet into a frenzy. Since the announcement, Gap’s shares saw a staggering 40% increase – only proving the power and relevance of Yeezy.
The world hasn’t been talking about the brand so much since the 90s when Naomi and Spike Lee were at the front and centre of their campaigns. No doubt, this partnership will also open up new audiences for Yeezy, aligning with Kanye’s objective to make his designs accessible to all.
To top it all off, Kanye appointed designer Mowalola Ogunlesi as Design Director of Yeezy x Gap, which only makes the venture more exciting.
It’s also come to light that Gap hit the brakes on their collab with emerging designer Telfar Clemens earlier this year, allegedly due to COVID-19. But the company has reportedly since failed to reimburse Clemens for his initial work for the collab, which was supposed to happen this year.
We hope Gap resolves all issues with Telfar, and we can’t wait to see what Yeezy x Gap has to offer.
