Wales Bonner just dropped the lookbook for its FW25 womenswear collection, and it goes hard fr. Named “Selah”, following the menswear lookbook from February, this collection featured a collab with Chicago-based artist Theaster Gates, focusing on his 10-year-long project “The Black Image Corporation”.
The collection takes on signature characteristics of Grace Wales Bonner’s style of ‘70s aesthetics that combine feminine and masculine elements with its androgynous pieces of sleek tailoring and leathers, as well as the quintessential tracksuits that WB is known for. The silhouettes are clean, and the details like the fireman clasps and the belts are too good. The graphics feature Moneta Sleet Jr’s renowned photography, courtesy of Theaster Gates.
Love to see Wales Bonner keep its sophisticated sporty and utilitarian aesthetic but elevating it with smooth leathers and adding in tailoring and chic dresses, which are inspired by glamorous archive imagery from Ebony and Jet magazines. Grace killed it with this one.
