Since their introduction in 1947, France-born Salomon have become one of the leading outdoor sportswear brands to have graced the market, and their reign is not slowing down any time soon!
Following their previous partnership with Carhartt WIP, Salomon has teamed up with Maison Margiela on their MM6 line which reimagines Salomon’s iconic pieces through Maison Margiela’s distinct lens. As part of this collab, a Maison Margiela x Salomon sneaker was first spotted on the runway earlier this year – a silhouette which hides the trail runners in an adjustable shroud. The pair arrived in a beige/silver colourway with hints of blue, green and pink. It also appeared to adhere to the thick sole trend which remains defiant with a wedge reminiscent of engineering found on Salomon’s classic CROSS HIKE.

Now, during FW22 another silhouette has been unveiled in both black and beige. Still keeping the upper and wedge sole, this silhouette omits the shroud and opts for a sock-boot style instead covering foot to knee. Contrasting the red and multi-coloured earlier pairs, these sneakers are fit for anyone who wants to take a more muted approach to fashion (which is always a trend).

Both colourways make use of tones to highlight the different materials used on the shoe, and include ‘MARGIELA 6‘ and ‘SALOMON’ transcribed along the ankle of each pair.

After the fashion brand MM6 Maison Margiela collaborated with backpacking Eastpak in the autumn and winter of 2021, this collaboration has all the ingredients for success and has been considered with the current year in mind. Although there is currently no official release date, this is definitely not one to take off your radar.
