Moncler Genius and Matthew Williams have come together to launch the third iteration of their 6 MONCLER 1017 ALYX 9SM collaboration, focused around hyper technicality and crafted utility.
Through the collection, the Alyx and Givenchy creative director combines innovatively constructed garments with eye-catching metalware and accessories. Bringing the couture quality of Givenchy and the urban-technicality of early Alyx, Williams presents his own take on the iconic ski-slope heritage of Moncler for an elevated utilitarian silhouette.

The third instalment focuses on the tension of opposites. Matte versus shiny, natural versus artificial, hard versus soft and dark versus light. The collection explores the relationships between contrasting elements. This philosophy is used to build upon Moncler’s staple silhouettes, reimagining them in new ways and with new materials, establishing a distinct design language that is both urgently metropolitan and instinctively of the moment.

Black cropped and long puffer jackets are crafted from heightened ultra-shine laqué nylon, contrasting boldly with softer iterations made from white opaque cotton. Meanwhile, duvets and long coats come in elegant nylon satin. William’s trademark threaded chain hardware complements the outerwear garments and plays up to the juxtaposition of soft down and hard metal.

Anatomical leather trousers and a series of padded, hooded vests add another dynamic element to the collection. The looks are completed with lug-soled boots, soft bags, puffer phone cases and metal belts and jewellery.

On a slight side note, it is also worth mentioning that of the 11 Moncler Mondo Genius films, Williams’ is certainly one of the most unique. It features emerging artist Teezo Touchdown performing in the new 6 MONCLER 1017 ALYX 9SM collection, a whole lot of fans and some scary CGI arms. A second version of the video filmed on top of a snowy mountain accompanies the launch of this collection as an editorial video.

The fusion of advanced innovation and crafted quality is at the core of 6 MONCLER 1017 ALYX 9SM, swiftly translating Moncler’s mountain ethos to a fast metropolitan setting through the eyes of one of the most exciting designers working today.
The collection is available now on Moncler’s website and at Moncler boutiques worldwide.
